Configuring Blackboard LTI for Echo360

To use Blackboard with Echo360's active learning platform, you need to configure an External Tool in Blackboard that communicates with Echo360, then create the placement for the link and add the placement to each course where Echo's classroom media/content is to be delivered.

Workflow for configuring Blackboard to provide Echo360 content

  1. Enable the Blackboard LTI configuration in Echo360.
This generates the Key, Secret, and Host URL fields needed to set up the External Tool in Moodle.
  2. Create the External LTI Tool in Blackboard for Echo360.

  3. Create a Placement for the Echo360 External LTI Tool.

  4. Add a Content > Assessment link for Echo360 to each Course in Blackboard. Using the assessment type link allows instructors to export Echo360 analytics to the Blackboard gradebook.
This step can be done by the Admin or the Instructor.

  5. Optional but Recommended: Add a shortcut link to Echo360 to the Course Navigation.
This step can be done by the Admin or the Instructor.

  6. Click the link to Echo360 and select the Echo360 section to show to users through this Blackboard Course page.

  7. If appropriate for your institution, Instructors may also choose to create multiple assessment links and link to individual classes within an Echo360 section.

Alternately, instructors or admins can create the Echo360 course and/or section through the tool interface. Whoever creates the section this way is automatically assigned as an instructor to the course.

  8. Users who log into Blackboard and click the Echo360 tool link are automatically passed through to the Echo360 section's class list, and automatically enrolled in the class with the corresponding user role.

NOTE: The procedures in these topics are provided as guidelines to the Blackboard LTI setup process. Refer to the Blackboard documentation for additional details, or contact Blackboard product support if you need further assistance.
